Connecticut
In partnership with the Mohegan Tribe of Indians of Connecticut and Kerzner International, a renowned developer of resorts and casinos, Waterford Gaming has formed one of the most extraordinary partnerships ever. Together, they created the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT, one of the most successful projects of its kind in the world. Beginning in 1992, the Waterford/Kerzner partnership obtained all federal and state approvals, engineered innovative funding programs, and served as exclusive developer, builder, and operator of the ambitious $300 Million Mohegan Sun project. In 2002, the partnership completed Project Sunburst, a more than $1 Billion expansion to the Mohegan Sun and the largest private development east of the Mississippi. In January 2000, the Tribe assumed operations of the Mohegan Sun.
Rhode Island
In 2004, Waterford partnered with Kerzner International and Starwood
Capital Group to form BLB Investors. The partnership purchased Lincoln
Park in Lincoln, RI for $435 million. With broad experience in gaming,
development, and “state of the art” management, BLB transformed Lincoln
Park into a gaming and entertainment destination, and officially renamed
the facility Twin River in honor of its location between the Providence
and Blackstone Rivers. The $665 million investment, of which $220
million was new construction and renovation, occurred over a period of
19 months and encompassed 160,000 square feet of new gaming space,
including 4,752 slot machines, Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club, the
2,100 seat Twin River Events Center, Fred & Steve’s Steakhouse, and
additional dining options.
Colorado
As part of the abovementioned purchase, BLB Investors had acquired four
Colorado racetracks located in Aurora, Commerce City, Colorado Springs,
and Pueblo. The Colorado assets included three greyhound racing tracks
and one horseracing track, which included an off-track betting
operation, representing four of the five tracks currently in Colorado.
We are no longer affiliated with these projects.
New York
In partnership with the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians and Kerzner International, Waterford has been working since 2000 to develop a Class II gaming facility in Sullivan County, New York. The Tribe is interested in developing the facility as part of a land-claim settlement with the State of New York. The proposed project will include approximately 150,000-sq. ft. of primary gaming space, with 3,000 slot machines and 190 game tables, as well as specialty bars, restaurants, and a retail area. Project plans include parking structures, warehousing, and a service station. Phase IA of the development project will consist of the construction of a 750-room hotel as well as added infrastructure.
