2005 HOBI Award - "BEST LARGE COMMERCIAL REHAB"

Wolman Construction won in the category of Best Large Commercial Rehab for the $33 Million transformation of the Hilton Hotel in Hartford, CT. The 392-room, 22-story hotel was completely transformed into a state-of-the-art hotel. The team faced numerous challenges during the reconstruction, including the elimination of escalators, replacement of elevators and mechanical equipment, extensive HVAC work, and space reconfiguration. "This was more than a renovation - this was a whole reconfiguration of the interior of a once neglected building," stated Mark Wolman, president of Wolman Construction. "The end result is impressive - it feels like a brand-new facility."

Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts

2003 HOBI Award - "BEST NEW COMMERCIAL"

This "Phase IV" development is a 20,000 square foot addition, designed to house the complete administrative division of the college, with studio and classroom space to the rear of the building. The structure was fitted with a full kitchen and café, capable of feeding 60 people at any time.

Constructed by local and regional subcontractors, the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa features 285 rooms, more than 25,000 square feet of meeting space, Octagon Restaurant, a Starbucks Coffee Bar and the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa.

Opened in 2002, this hotel, located along Interstate 84 in Southington, CT is a three story, extended stay hotel with 94 suites, a 50 seat breakfast buffet, business center, fitness room, indoor pool, and approximately 1,000 square feet of meeting space.

Sonalysts Studios is a full-service production facility comprising of a film, television, audio, design and animation production media center, a recording studio and sound stages, and a set and exhibit fabrication facility.

2001 HOBI Award - "ULTIMATE REMODEL FOR HOME ENJOYMENT"

This 4,000 square foot addition consists of a 60-foot regulation lap pool, spa, gym, steam shower and bath. The entire addition has radiant floor heat and is designed with an emphasis on acoustics. The building grows proportionately in height and width from end to end, creating excellent acoustics in the pool area. The gym features 20 foot high ceilings and Fibercon walls. The existing basement level has also been totally renovated to incorporate a computer room, exercise room, table tennis area, and billiard table.

2001 HOBI Award - "BEST RESIDENTIAL REMODELING"

The second floor space on this New London residence renovation was reconfigured into three suites and a guest bedroom. This was accomplished by expanding over an existing first floor porch which had a flat roof. Several dormers were also added to the attic in order to create the two guest bedrooms and bath.

A two phase construction project of a high-end custom residential house in New London was started after the demolition of an existing house. The main house has three stories, a large curved wall, elevator, a copper and wood shingle roof, and nearly 100 window s that over look ocean views.
