Waterford Group Charitable Foundation Donates
to United Way of Southeastern CT

(Waterford, CT – August 31, 2006) --- Today, the Waterford Group Charitable Foundation proudly presented a check for $3,000 to the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut. The money was donated on behalf of the associates of Waterford Group and its affiliates, including the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa, Residence Inn by Marriott Mystic, Comfort Inn Mystic, Holiday Inn New London, SpringHill Suites by Marriott Waterford, and Courtyard by Marriott Norwich.

General Managers from Waterford’s six southeastern CT hotels were present at the United Way’s Gales Ferry office to present the check to Janet Pearce, president of United Way of Southeastern CT. “On behalf of the team at United Way and the thousands of people in our community, I would like to express a special thank you to the Waterford Group Charitable Foundation for their generous donation,” said Pearce. Terry Bickhardt, president of operations and marketing for Waterford Hotel Group, was also on hand for the presentation. “We are honored to present this donation on behalf of all of the Waterford associates in our region. This is yet another example of the generosity of our owners and associates, and of their continued commitment to our community,” said Bickhardt.

United Way of Southeastern Connecticut provides solutions that strengthen our community. United Way works to find the root cause of the problem and seek out other concerned organizations and people to help solve it, and its partner programs produce measurable results to show the difference they make and the lives they improve. In 2005, the United Way Campaign raised more than $8 million to support nearly 100 local health and human services and other programs such as Day of Caring, Volunteer Solutions, GiftMatch, and the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center.

The Waterford Group Charitable Foundation is a private foundation that seeks to support the communities in which associates of Waterford Group and affiliates live and work. The Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life of others through monetary and gift-in-kind donations, as well as volunteering at various events. Donations are provided to non-for-profit organizations that support health and well-being, youths, arts and cultural activities, and other various community initiatives.
