Waterford, CT – June 16, 2006 – The Waterford Group Charitable Foundation has announced that Angie Guzman has been awarded a $3,000.00 Scholarship. Guzman, a New London resident, is a 2006 graduate of the Grasso Southeastern Technical High School. Guzman was chosen from a pool of applicants from Grasso, and plans to attend Three Rivers Community College to study Hospitality Management. During a recent Awards Ceremony, Guzman was commended for exceptional attendance records and academic performance. Since the early 1990’s, Waterford has been a proud supporter of the Grasso Southeastern Technical High School. Len Wolman, Chairman and CEO of Waterford Group, was a founding member of the Hotel Management Program more than a decade ago. The company has remained actively involved with the school over many years, through guest lectures and by providing opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience at Waterford-managed properties. Additionally, since 2001, Waterford has awarded annual scholarships to worthy students of the Hotel Management Program. “It is our privilege to assist these students in pursuing their education in the hospitality industry,” said Wolman. The Waterford Group Charitable Foundation is a private foundation that seeks to support the communities in which associates of Waterford Group and affiliates live and work. The Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life of others through monetary and gift-in-kind donations, as well as volunteering at various events. Donations are provided to non-for-profit organizations that support health and well-being, youths, arts and cultural activities, and other various community initiatives. |
